From 1960 to 2000, Turkish authors have published 840 articles in peer reviewed international journals. As evidence of the recent progress in the number and quality of the scientific work and output in Turkish Nephrology, 735 of these were published between 1990 and 2000. In 2004, a total of 224 articles by Turkish Nephrologists were published in peer-reviewed in international journals indexed by Medline. In 2006, 91 original articles were submitted by Turkish authors to the journal Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation (NDT) alone and Turkey ranked 6^th after Germany amongst overall submissions to this journal.
